Diffusion Studio

An open-source video editor with a canvas, code document and agent-driven CLI

What it is

Diffusion Studio is an open-source desktop video editor for agents. SolidJS modules are the document source: canvas and timeline edits write back to code, while code changes redraw the canvas. Its dapi CLI exposes media probing, frame capture, filmstrips, waveforms, transcription, multimodal inspection, scene capture and structural checks. It covers footage editing, motion graphics, generated assets, short-form clipping and video understanding, and provides an Agent Skill for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot and Gemini CLI. The repository text lists Node 20+ and npm for local development and MPL-2.0 for the code, excluding desktop brand assets.

Perspectives

Ship Windows after the repository reaches 2,000 stars and mobile after it reaches 15,000 stars.

How to apply

  • Use it after recording or generating source media when an agent needs to inspect footage, edit a timeline and leave a project that a person can continue in the UI.
  • Compare its broad editing and motion-graphics role with AutoClip, which is centered on extracting clips from existing long video.
  • Run its /editor skill from an agent such as Claude Code, then place it in the wider Image & Video Generation & Editing workflow.

Limits

  • The Windows and mobile releases are conditional plans, not shipped-platform facts in this source.

  • Editing quality, model costs, export performance, platform support and agent integrations were not independently tested; the captured repository text is the project's own description.

  • The source says generated assets can be declared in code but does not establish output rights for each generation provider.
