AutoClip

An open-source tool that AI-analyzes YouTube, Bilibili and local video into highlight clips and compilations

What it is

AutoClip is a web-UI, open-source tool that takes a YouTube or Bilibili URL or a local video file, uses AI to analyze the content and timeline, and generates highlight clips and compilation videos. The repository description says it uses FastAPI, React, Celery, Redis, SQLite, yt-dlp, and FFmpeg and is distributed under the MIT License. It provides a Docker startup script and a local install path, and documents its Qwen-based analysis configuration.

Perspectives

It is a free alternative for locally owning the job of finding short vertical clips from long podcasts and streams and captioning them. You can pick among OpenAI, Gemini, Qwen, and SiliconFlow with no monthly volume cap, and a commercial service is better when you need support and polish.

How to apply

  • Feed long interviews, webinars, and product explainer videos into AutoClip to produce short-form candidates, and have a person review for lost context, exaggeration, and caption errors.
  • Consider unreleased videos that are hard to upload externally as candidates for local processing, and design the visual style of the output separately from the AI Video Visual Reference Workflow.
  • Compare where image and video production tools sit in Image & Video Generation & Editing.

Limits

  • The default AI configuration confirmed in the repository docs is the Qwen family. Support for the other model providers Nav Toor lists was not verified against the source code.

  • Several features such as Bilibili upload, mobile support, account management, and caption editing are marked as in-development in the repository docs.

  • Maintenance status, current star/fork counts, processing quality, and per-hardware speed were not independently confirmed in this ingest.
