Building an Owned Review Site from Social Mentions
Publish attributable product mentions on a separate review domain you control
Definition
An owned-evidence tactic that places public product mentions on a separate review domain, refreshing the feed from social sources rather than relying only on established third-party directories. Unlike Building Review-Directory Coverage for AI Search, the vendor controls the domain and collection process, so ownership and selection rules need to be explicit.
Perspectives
Nevo David (2026-09-13, X)
Create a new domain for product reviews that you control, with the aim of ranking beside sites such as Trustpilot or G2. Periodically check X for recent product mentions, process them with AI and add them to the review feed. Build backlinks to help the new domain compete in search and make its evidence available for possible LLM citation.
Nevo implemented the idea as postiz-reviews.com; the captured page displayed named accounts, handles and their posts about Postiz. At publication he described backlink work and LLM citation as next steps rather than measured results.
How to apply
- Fits a product with a continuing stream of attributable public mentions and enough operating capacity to verify, refresh and remove entries.
- Disclose that the product owner controls the domain, preserve links and attribution, and define inclusion and correction rules before treating the feed as review evidence.
- Compare this experiment with Building Product Information Surfaces for AI Search and keep owned-site rankings separate from third-party directory coverage.
- Measure indexed pages, rankings, backlinks, answer-engine citations and referred conversions separately through Measuring AI Search Visibility as Crawl, Citation and Click.
Limits
- The source reports a newly launched implementation, not rankings, backlinks, LLM citations or revenue outcomes.
- AI processing, polling cadence, deduplication, consent, moderation, deletion and correction behavior are not described.
- A vendor-controlled review site may not carry the independence or authority of Trustpilot or G2, and selective inclusion could weaken trust.
