Operating a Founder-Led Social Account

Contribute before asking, interact daily, follow proactively and write in each platform's winning format

Definition

Running a founder's personal account on Threads, X and LinkedIn as an ongoing inbound channel — the account earns attention through contribution and interaction first, and product promotion rides on that relationship rather than replacing it.

Perspectives

Hansol Lee (2026-08-18, Threads)

Hansol Lee grew audiences to 9,500 on Threads, 2,900 on X and 1,000 on LinkedIn and presents the following as account-operating experience, not as platform-attributed acquisition or conversion results.

Contribute before asking for attention. The most common mistake is never giving to the community first — mix product updates with cases people rarely hear, how-to material, trial-and-error stories and domain expertise, even when they are only loosely related to the product. Nobody likes an account that only shouts "look at my product" all day.

Interact, don't just publish. Social is relationship-based give-and-take: reply, like and repost the posts of people you talk with regularly. Interaction matters most on Threads, then LinkedIn, then X. Even well-known people struggle on Threads when they only post.

Once the profile and accumulated posts make clear who you are, use proactive follows. Follow people likely to discuss the product's problem space; many follow back, read the posts and some turn into good relationships.

Hide and block bad-faith attacks while accepting legitimate criticism. Arguing with attention-seeking negativity never ends well for the founder's mood or the business.

Read popular posts on each platform before writing. Winning formats differ a lot by platform and are fairly fixed; save posts that get reactions and practice adapting them to the business. Platform notes: Threads is the easiest start (a new account gets reach and replies if the topic is right, but zero reach without posting; no hashtags; raw replies appear when the account looks commercial). X rewards polished how-to and tip collections over storytelling, gets few replies, and an unverified account has little chance of views. LinkedIn: still learning. Use a personal photo (face optional) plus an occupational identity rather than a brand or product persona — reach is far higher.

Publish product-building stories, product posts and useful content on X, Threads and LinkedIn to earn interest and trust before asking for an install. Account warm-up, learning what resonates and finding good topics take sustained manual work; keep posting consistently rather than rushing into promotion.

How to apply

Limits

  • The 0-to-1 app framing supplies no account-level reach, install or trust measurement.

  • Follower counts, channel ordering and format advice are a single operator's self-report with no customer-conversion data; posting, interaction, outbound follows, verification status and prior audience are not isolated as causes.

  • Platform observations are as of mid-2026 and Korean-language audiences; reach mechanics on Threads and X change often.

  • LinkedIn guidance is explicitly incomplete — the author was just starting there.
