Running an Affiliate Program After Product Conversion
Attach the right partners to a conversion-proven product and activate them while protecting incremental revenue
Definition
An affiliate program is a performance-based distribution model that pays partners a commission on the sales they drive. Instead of buying reach upfront the way ads do, the cost only shows up after the revenue does — but commission can also get logged on affiliates that intercepted purchases from existing customers, so you have to separate total affiliate revenue from incremental revenue.

Validate a product's conversion, explainability, and quality first, because affiliates amplify the growth of an already-converting product rather than creating growth from scratch. The partners who performed were ones whose audience overlapped with Tibo's and who had experience running affiliate deals themselves; ads win on speed and scale, and affiliates win on a risk structure where the cost appears only after the revenue.
By self-reported figures for the last 30 days, Outrank's affiliate revenue was $29,649, Revid's was $9,700, the combined total $39,349, and commission paid out $10,834. One Outrank partner made $3,580 in revenue and $1,074 in commission from 15 sales. Recurring commission by program was Outrank 30%, Revid 20%, and SuperX 40%; the rate varies by the value of partner trust and niche distribution and by product cost and margin.
Never send a partner straight to the raw signup link, but to a landing page you own that explains the program's context and how to actually sell it. Tibo used Rewardful for the Stripe integration, recurring-commission tracking, and the signup and payout flow, and, to keep partners active, kept sending revenue proof, new features, and copy-ready content ideas. Tibo's own example: an agent on MissionControlHQ that reads GitHub changes to produce an affiliate newsletter.
Two tricks show up in almost every program: a partner bidding on your own brand name in Google Ads and claiming commission on sales that would have happened anyway — 20 to 30% of revenue gone for traffic you already owned — and, if discount codes run through the program, pages ranking for discount code [your brand]. Block branded bidding in the program terms and watch who ranks for your discount-code searches.
How to apply
- Fits a product whose checkout or paywall already converts and that you can explain in one sentence; Tibo's own rule is that affiliates amplify existing growth. If conversion is unproven, fix Mobile App Onboarding and Paywall first.
- Assumes partners already exist or are on the way — finding and pitching them is the separate tactic in Recruiting Your First Affiliates; this page starts where a partner has agreed.
- Not a replacement for ads when speed and scale matter; the channel fits when you would rather pay after revenue and borrow trust that already exists, and the two can run side by side. For campaign creators who still need paid format discovery, use Staging Creator Payouts Toward Pure CPA before asking them to work on commission alone.
- Set the recurring rate from your own margin and the partner's reach, not from a competitor's number, and write the brand-bidding and coupon-page rules into the terms before the first partner signs — that is where incremental revenue is lost.
- Partner updates can be reshaped per channel with Repurposing Across Platforms with an AI Content Skill Graph; public results that make candidates trust you come from Founder-Led SaaS Pre-Demand and Launch. Whole flow: Referral & Affiliate.
Limits
-
The revenue, commission, sale counts, and the
10ximprovement claim are the author's self-report; no dashboard, attribution window, refunds/cancellations, or net-revenue basis is disclosed. -
The
$30,000in the title is close to the body's Outrank figure of$29,649, but is a different magnitude from the body's combined total of$39,349including Revid. -
How much of the total affiliate revenue would have occurred even without affiliates is not separated out. Blocking brand search and coupon pages is an operational rule that reduces this incrementality problem, not a complete way to measure it.
-
Rewardful and MissionControlHQ have no canonical URL in the source, so no separate tool page was created. The features, pricing, and current maintenance status of those two tools were not independently verified in this ingest.
